The three girls depicted are sirens waiting on the cliffs of Beachy Head, luring sailors to their death. Belle Tout is a reference to the historic lighthouse at Beachy Head, Eastbourne. There is a subtext that the three sirens are in the throes of orgasm and it is their wailing that is potentially luring their prey on to the rocks. Inspired by a black and white photo in an old 1970s porn mag.
