A label on the back on this painting is headed “The Wapping Group of Artists” together with the title “The Screen” and a label showing the artist’s home address and phone number. Blake was head of the Wapping Group from 1982 to 1987; its members largely took inspiration for their work from the Thames and London’s dockland and waterways.
