Description
This is a more than slightly puzzling picture that raises all kinds of questions not easy to answer. Why, for instance, do the trees on the left appear to be in full leaf while those over on the right are wintry bare? Why is the country lane in which the farm labourer is standing seem to be imbued with supernatural light? And what affection, if any, does this countryman hold for his “master”. A true rural mystery from a master of the art!
