Description
This painting and Together we will hold this place were started when Stella was artist-in-residence at the Valeni estate in North East Romania, where the owner has been restoring an ancient manor house and parkland that features a large collection of rare trees. This region was once home to the Cucetini people who flourished between nearly 5,000 and 8,000 years ago, and Stella has incorporated symbols found on their ancient pottery into these paintings.
The titles of these paintings point out that trees have outlived past societies and will outlive our own.
The tree featured in this painting is a Douglas fir.
