From a series of informal portraits by London Group artists of fellow members. The drawings were mostly done in a nearby pub as they prepared for the London Group’s annual exhibition in 1980. At the time John Bellany was vice-president of the London Group. You’ll notice that the artist’s signature (bottom left) is reversed: a sign that Cyril was not used to creating etchings, in which the printed image is the reverse of what has been inscribed on the etching plate.
