Another artist’s proof from the limited edition series about the Eyemouth maritime disaster of 1881 when nearly 200 fishermen were drowned in a storm. Eyemouth aroused mixed feelings for John Bellany: on the one hand it was the scene of this famous catastrophe but on the other it was also the home of his beloved maternal grandparents.
